HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I do miss my Fimo...a lot! I think I might be in some sort of rehab at the moment which is why I try to find other things to do.
I have been seeing something called Cold Porcelain for a little while on the Internet and thought I could try it.

Just a little ghost (for now), who has not been careful enough and met the evil spider.

That's all for today :-)
I wish you all a Freaky Day!

(Belated) Sunday interlude

Oops! I prepared this post last night and clicked on "Publish" but just realised it was never published. Not sure what happened there :-(

So you have it this morning. It's ok though: just pretend it it Sunday night, your are in your PJs and reading this from your bed before falling asleep....

----

As it is Halloween this week, Halloween nails are compulsory, but not the snow :-( Yes, we had snow over here yesterday. The temperature dropped just like that. It is freezing. And it is not even November...

Anyway, I've done a few trials last week and we went for this design: here are Madame L's nails

I have used the following colours:
Kiko Pearly Orange (235)

Kiko Lime Green (268)

And here is mine:

I have used the same Pearly Orange and Lime Green as above plus the Kiko Jungle Green (392) as main colour.

That's all for today :-)
Hope you all had a nice weekend!

A new button

Hi guys,

In case you hadn't noticed, I have added a new button on my blog: a Pinterest "Pin it" one (took me a while to figure out how to lol).

You will find it at the bottom of my signature at the end of each post.

If you have a Pinterest account and you find some of the things I do absolutely great, you can finally add it to your board. I know, I am just that nice!

That's (really) all for today :-)
See?! it's just below, I told you

A nice day out

I went to the park with my sister, my niece and her best friend. It started as a very cold day but in the end, we had a great time. I even discovered a race I had never heard about before: the Red Panda.
Isn't that the cutest thing you have ever seen?! You just feel like cuddling it. And it is just as big as your average dog I would say. So cute

Then there was this bear. Quite funny...and chilled by the look of it! He took the pose for some pictures, then climbed up the tree and stayed there, looking at us and smelling the air. We couldn't smell anything but it looks like there was something really yummy around as the other bear was smelling it too!

Of course, I couldn't post without a little something jewellery wise. You know me, huh?
If you follow the trend, you must have heard about Shamballa bracelets: they are everywhere at the moment. So thought I would give it a try as I had the thread, and also some beads and discs I made during the summer. What do you think? Do not be afraid to comment. That's what also helps bloggers like me to improve in their work....and to post as well :-)

This will not be my only attempt, for sure.

What to do with this?

Oh boy! I have all those beads and (sort of) pendants I made in the last few months: they have been in my "let's save this for later, I have a more interesting project to start" box. You know what I am talking about!

I even have necklace I started but then kept on thinking that something was missing so I could not finish it. To this day, I still don't know what is missing!! But at least I have some jewellery to do I guess until I can take my pasta machine out again.

I did not put all the beads I have...or this post would have been much, much longer...

I'm cheating

Yes, because the nail art post is on Sundays, but I got a new toy in the post today and was dying to try it so...I changed Madame L's nails :-)

What did I get? My Konad plate!

I was intrigued by nail stamping a few months ago and wanted to try so when I saw them in a random shop while walking in a street in Lyon, I bought two "kits" like this one below:

This thing was terrible as the plate was no good: the stuff on it were not deep enough so it was impossible to do anything. Both of them were useless. I would not recommend to buy any kit from that shop, but I do not remember the name of it. It was one of those random shops that sells a bit of everything; I can only remember the street, Auguste Comte.

Anyway, enough about that, let us see what I have done to Madame L tonight: I need to get the hang of it as stamping is not as straight forward as I thought it would be. I had to try a lot of times to have the flowers to show up on the stamp. Maybe my scraper is not good, not sure. But for a first, I think it is ok.

I have also changed my nails while playing with nail polishes lol
First I applied that one (Miss Europe, colour 12 - Gris Mat) ...

Then thought it was simple so I applied a coat of that one: I do not know this brand (Pupa), it was part of a gift basket I got from my colleagues on my last day of work. It is ok, but I am not a fan of that kind of polish as it tends to be a nightmare to remove it afterwards. The nail polish goes, but those glittery things don't!!

Sunday Interlude

This week is all about pastel. Over the summer I bought a few of those but never really used them as thought in the end that they would not compliment my hands!

As I was looking for a sample for my sister's design, I thought I'd give them another go.

So here is a sample on my nails (color 376-candy pink)

and my sister's mani (color 389-mint milk)

For the braids, I have used the following colors:

Kiko Steel Grey (400)

Kiko Wine Red (703)

Colorama Ocean Blue (661)

Oh! and the name of my blog is in no way related to the nail polish brand...it is spelt differently and was created without me even knowing this brand back then lol

My first challenge!

I regularly read the blog "Parole de Pâte". It is a French blog where they feature some very talented polymerists. I love looking at their creations and it makes you realise that some people's imagination and creativity have no limit. I am always very impressed with what they do.

They also have challenges from time to time but I have never tried to enter any of them (please refer to the above paragraph lol)

Back in late August, they announced a new challenge called "In and Out". The rules were simple: only use white, pearl or translucent clay. No canes or coloured polymer clay were allowed. You could, however, change the colour or texture of your clay with any medium you liked: paint, ink, embossing powder, seeds, pastels...anything.

As I was already working with white polymer clay when I saw this post, I thought that maybe I could give it a try. And this was actually my last creation before I put my fimo tools away :-(

Anyway! I have used white Fimo that I mixed with black paint. I then made flat rounded beads with it and mounted them on a memory wire. I've added some red beads that I bought a while ago. I like the contrast with the handmade beads.

I could not show it to you until the pictures were put on the website and they have posted them this morning. It is the first time one of my creations is put on a website other than mine: even better being THAT website!

I am a very happy bunny today :-)

So what do you think?

Nostalgia....

This is what happens when you decide to clear out and go through boxes.

Due to space issues, I had to put away my Fimo space so I said goodbye to my pasta machine and my oven: both back in their boxes. My knives, rollers, cookie cutters, inks, powders...sad moment.
But it is just for a few months hopefully and I have plenty of other things to do!

So of course, when clearing out, you go through boxes and come accross things, hence the necklaces in my previous post and today's necklace. This was my very first flower cane that looked (to me!) like a flower! I remember how excited I was when I completed it. I could not stop admiring the cane on the table and wouldn't dare cutting it.

In the end, I finally made this necklace. Not so convinced now that I look back at it lol
What do you think? Feel free to comment!

Oldies

Here are some of the first necklaces I made when I started playing with polymer clay.

On that one, I think I had mixed some fimo together and just made beads with. Except for the white ones which are white clay that I cured then painted with some white pearl paint. The striped bead is made of white polymer clay (still Fimo) on which I put some black stripes of black Fimo.

This one was with the same techniques. The only difference is that the focal bead on that one was my very first "shaped" cane (I don't know how to call them when you put a character or shape in them that it not a flower lol)

Here you can see the details of that bead: yes! it was a cat! I was so proud of that one. I love that bead. I might dismantle this necklace just to have it back :-)

Craft show: "ID-Creative"

I went to my very first Craft show over the weekend! A few weeks ago, my sister (not Madame "L", another sister) got some tickets for it. I was so excited because I had never been to one. I know, it sounds weird considering what I do :-)

Anyway, we spent an afternoon there together and it was fun. There were a lot of stalls in that place, sometimes maybe too many as it was hard to walk through those aisles and see some of the things people had to show or sell.

In all though, it was great as that sort of show is very helpful when you are in search of new things to do. Although everywhere you look, you see something you want to try so you have to stop yourself , or you would start a new hobby everyday lol

The downside are the prices: they are sometimes ridiculous! I am, of course, not talking about people selling their creations, but I am referring to the findings, beads, threads, etc.. I honestly didn't buy any of those knowing well I would be able to find them much cheaper and in bigger quantities on eBay lol

Seriously! They would sell you a tiny bead for 1€ when you could have 3 or 4 of them for the same price online. The only thing I bought because I had never seen it before was some sort of thread made of recycled plastic bottles. I will have to think of what I will do with that. It seems they mainly do bracelets with it. I will see...

I also got to see some girls from a blog I follow regularly. It was kind of cool to see them in real life: it made my sister laugh because I was all happy about that. I didn't talk to them but listened to the tips they gave on fimo which I will surely remember!

I have to try and attend more craft shows in the future: they are fun!!
