Interlude...

As this post is not fimo related, I've decided to name it that. And so will all the "off subject" ones from now on I think.

Yesterday it was my twin and I's birthday: it was the second one we spent together in a lot of years as I was abroad. I did think ahead and bought a blank card a few weeks ago and thought I'd give scrapbooking a go; and so I did with my niece over the weekend :-)

As the big day is gone and the card is in her possession, I can now show the result:

I wish I had been more creative but I kind of like simple things. I love how the embossing on the envelope turned out though...and most importantly: she seems to have liked it!

I had a great day too: my brother-in-law who works near my new job took me out for lunch which was sweet of him (although I talked so much he might never want to experience that again lol). My older sister and my niece made me diner and bought 16 mini cakes for desert! Plus another 3 from my brother-in-law. We have not finished them all yet (it's only day 2...). I also got some Indian Ink which I cannot wait to try out and a voucherf rom my twin: I'm gonna get myself a brand new coat I think!!!
The day would have been completed if the most important person in my life after my family (aka "the love of my life"...aka "my boyfriend") had actually remembered that it was my birthday!!!! But he hasn't...despite his daily, multiple phone calls. He will realise this when he reads this post tomorrow I guess...

As for my twin and I, we will celebrate with the whole family this weekend as it will also be our nephew's birthday. Good times ahead :-)

That's it for today :-)

Purple ring, purple ring...

ok ok, that was a very bad one but I thought it was funny...sort of! Anyway! Not much today: a ring. You will notice that I am still using the cane I made two weeks ago lol There is a LOT of it so need to be creative.

There it is though:

That's all for today :-)

Working 9 to 5...

working indeed! After 5 months of looking, I have finally found a contract so I started work this week on Monday. It has been hectic and tiring. Not the job so much but the commute to get to it. So I can say...not without shame, that I am now officially one of those people who have fallen asleep on a bus and woke up to realise everyone was gone lol Luckily for me, my stop was the last stop so I did not have to struggle to get home afterwards.

As soon as the weekend started...and between two naps, I have worked on some projects as I've had loads in my head the whole week but haven't had the chance to work on any of them. I will not say that I regret being unemployed but....it was easier when I could do some fimo everyday haha! People are never satisfied.

I have not had the time to put anything together yet BUT the beads are ready. See for yourself :-)

I've used the watercolor technique for those: I love this technique. Simple but yet, gives gorgeous results.

The four on the right are from a tutorial on Parole de pate. For the others, I have used the Mokume Gane technique.

Right! Now I need to make something with those. I already have an idea so...just need to find the time to do it this week!

That's all for tonight :-)

Where do broken hearts go?

Or where do zipped ones go, more like. You'll get it when you see today's work lol

Today was Valentine's day: my first one without my lovely boyfriend :-(
BUT I still felt like making something today. A girl's gotta keep herself entertained lol

I was out and about all morning so when I came back home, I sat at the table and spent the afternoon working (after having prepared a dinner for my sister for this special day of course!)
It was like a marathon! I was watching a cooking programme where people compete with each other to be crowned "best chef": they had to cook 4 or 5 different dishes in a certain amount of time. I felt like them: rushing like crazy to finish this before the end of the day so that I could still have some daylight to take pictures. Well you will see from the pics below that...I did not make it and finished just as the sun went down so all photos had to be taken with a basic lamp lol

Let's stop the wait and see the results, shall we?

"Zipped Heart" pendant: another hollow lentil...although it doesn't look like a lentil, I know :-) First attempt at making a zip. Will need to work on the little "handle" you pull to open/close it one day

"Double Heart" earrings: simple but they go nicely with the pendant I think

and then I decided to make a bookmark but being the French that I am, I will call it a "Marque Ta Page" lol

detail nº1: I've always found chinese knotting very pretty. So I got some rattail cord and decided to give it a go with some tutorials. I made a snake knot

detail nº2: I used a wooden stamp to texture the center piece. I then put some black paint and removed the excess. I've also used the new stamp I got over the weekend to texture the black part.

detail nº3: I made a little bead on which I have added a heart and small details on both sides. Once cured, I used embossing powder and a heat gun. Then varnished.

I had to make that bead twice: the first one exploded when I tried to put the rattail cord through it!

Hope you've all had a great Valentine's Day!
That's all for today :-)

Busy week

This week I have worked a lot on my Fimo. I had quite a few projects in mind: new designs, techniques and materials/products I had never used before....unfortunately...those of you working with polymer clay know that when doing this, it does not always work out the way we want.So I was all excited with my new projects, followed a tutorial and half way through it, everything was ruined. I am still not sure as regards to what I have done wrong. Anywho, I will make another post on that!

I have still managed to make some new pieces this week. I have tried to be a bit more adventurous when it comes to designs and methods. Still some work/progress needed, but I am happy with some of the results :-)
So here it goes!!

Faux Leather Necklace (mounted the "Petit Poucet" style on buna cord)

details...

No name for this one (you will learn that I am really, REALLY bad at finding names for what I do), also mounted on buna cord.

details on the hollow lentil, textured with chinese signs and flowers.

"Triple Pendant Necklace" (yes! I have found one name AND I have used the rose cane I posted about a couple of days ago lol)

details...I did not make the two little black spacer beads on that one though :-)
and a little bracelet: simple but I really like the result. I have tried to make a Faux Jade effect on the beads using transclucent fimo mixed with green eye shadow and some gold leaf metal. I made the little spacer discs with scrap clay that I covered with Fimo gold powder

Oh! and I made a nice discovery yesterday. My sister took me to her favourite shop of the moment: they sell things at discount price. I noticed some craft stuff in one box and was so happy to find THIS!

I found it for 2.99€!! Those are so expensive in the shops here: I was excited to find it at that price. Love the texture and can't wait to find something to do with it.
I have more ideas and projects I need to make. More work for this coming week...
That's all for today :-)

RIP Whitney...

You were one of the greatest singer ever to live and you will be hugely missed. So sad your life has ended that way

Canes

One day I was talking with my cousin about my jewellery: she asked for me to make a bracelet and thought it could be made very quickly as I was just "buying the beads and putting them together" lol
I told her it was more complicated than this and that each bead had to be handmade, included the designs on them. The way it works is that you make a cane with the desired design. You then slice this cane and apply those thin slices on a bead you've made.
I made two canes this week (hadn't made one for months) and thought I would take some pictures for her to see. A cane can take anything from a few hours to days depending on how complex it is.
There is no text with the pics as I think it is self explanatory and it is just to give an idea (I am no good at making tutorials. Never tried actually lol)
Simple Black & White Flower Cane
and my first Rose Cane (I have used a tutorial from Sigal Simovich). I realised once I was done that I'd put the outter petals inside out, duh! Although it doesn't really look like a real rose (surely not the one in the tutorial!) I am happy with the result for a first one :-) I will find something to make with it.
That's all for today :-)

More jewellery

Two first for me: slave bracelet and "mokume gane" technique. Far from perfect but getting there
Matching earrings
a brooch: black fimo that I have textured and partly covered with the Fimo gold powder. I then added the cameo made with white Fimo
and more rings...

Let's get started...

Ok! So I am finally doing it!
I am working on my website but as it is not ready yet, I'll be blogging until it is. I will just be showing you what I do with my little fingers. I might not be very good at posting on a regular basis but I'll try my best, promise!
To start with, a few pictures of what I have done lately....well...before Christmas.
Hope you will enjoy!
Macaron rings
A set (earrings, ring and bracelet): I had the idea after having seen a tutorial from Beabul
A basic bracelet
and my first dolls! I love them :-)
That's all for today :-)
